Tonight, toss, turn:
Midnight breeze blows cool noon air —
Too warm for sleep

Render distance
Suffers in the cold — the fog
Fades hills to white -
A cool hill breeze.
Windows close. Heaters glow red
To stretch out summer. -
Copper and cobalt,
The sky-mares dance, invisible
Except cloud tails -
The cold comes first
To far hills. Fog fading
Trees, grass, into rain -
one flat-based cloud rests on a glass under-sky its copies — countless
-
somewhere, the sea
sends fish-and-chips (and salt) scents —
promises of rain. -
Snow in the mountains —
And, rolling through each valley,
A cold wind blows -
After the rain
They come, roaring, sharp of claw:
Hungry lawnmowers. -
A heat that strains, it
Winds up air conditioners
And sets fans spinning.
